Privacy Policy

En Route Apps and its developer take your privacy seriously. Beyond what Apple passes on to developers and what you choose to share directly, no third-party analytics or advertising frameworks are used anywhere.

No app published by En Route Apps keeps logs on you, and there is no interest in doing so. Your data is not collected, transmitted, distributed, or sold. Anything you create in an app stays on your device, or in your own iCloud account where an app offers sync.

Open When is the one app that carries something between two people, and it is built so that carrying it reveals nothing. Letters, photos, and voice notes are encrypted on your iPhone before they are uploaded, with a key only your two phones hold. The server stores ciphertext it cannot read, along with the routing it needs to deliver a letter, which two accounts are paired, when a letter was written, when it unlocks, and when it was first opened. There is no email address, no password, and no recovery key held on the server that could ever unlock a letter. Unpairing or deleting your account deletes the pair's letters for both of you.
